Hospice Quinte has received a boost to its Heart & Home Building Campaign thanks to the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation’s ‘Kay Stafford Community Fund’. On Tuesday, Hospice Quinte was gifted a $25,000.00 donation that will be used to purchase bariatric lift equipment for one of the specialized resident suites at the future Hospice Quinte Care Centre.

“We were incredibly excited and honoured to receive this generous funding through TMHF’s Kay Stafford Community Fund,” says Hospice Quinte’s Executive Director, Jennifer May-Anderson. “One of the goals of Hospice Quinte is to service all individuals, from all walks of life, who are in need of end-of-life palliative care. We also aspire to keeping our clients comfortable, well-cared for and out of hospital. This incredible gift will allow us to purchase much-needed bariatric lift equipment for the new Care Centre, so that we may continue to fulfill these goals,” she adds.

“When Kay Stafford left her legacy gift for the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation to administer to the hospital and the community, she never realized the huge impact her gift would ultimately have. Today, we are delighted to help another local organization realize their goals, with this gift to Hospice Quinte in support of their Heart & Home Building Campaign,” says TMHF’s Executive Director, Wendy Warner.

Hospice Quinte completed the public tendering phase of its Care Centre building project in May 2020, with construction now anticipated to commence in late August/early September. The Hospice Quinte Care Centre is slated to open its doors in Fall 2021 and will provide at no-cost, 24/7 care by a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team of physicians and allied health care providers who will focus on pain management and providing the greatest quality of life possible for those nearing end of life.
