Support Volunteers

Our support volunteers have a desire to care for and support those who have suffered the loss of a loved one or who are caring for someone who is terminally ill. These compassionate volunteers work alongside our Education and Support Services Coordinator in facilitating 8-week-long bereavement support groups and drop in Caregiver Support Groups.

Hospice Quinte support volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and not have experienced a significant loss (such as death, divorce, or loss of job or home) in the last year. Volunteers will have to complete an application form, screening process, criminal record check, and training session.

Volunteers should have a mature perspective on life, death, loss, and grief and are accepting and respectful of others who have different values, beliefs, and ways of living. Bereavement support volunteering is both rewarding and challenging.

The first step to becoming a Hospice Quinte Bereavement Support Volunteer is to complete the Volunteer Application Form below, or call our offices at 613-966-6610.
