Visiting Volunteer Training
At select times of the year a ten week training program is offered for people who would like to become Visiting Volunteers for Hospice Quinte.
Training topics include:
- Introduction to Hospice Quinte and Hospice Palliative Care
- Role of the Volunteer
- Communication
- Spirituality
- Grief & Bereavement
- Body Mechanics
- Palliative Illnesses
- Comfort Measures
- Infection Prevention & Control
- Advance Directives
In order to take the class a candidate must complete a Visiting Volunteer Application Form and undergo a screening process and formal interview. Successful candidates will then be able to attend classes.
Hospice Quinte Visiting Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and not have experienced a significant loss (such as death, divorce, or loss of job or home) within the last year.
Support Volunteer Training
At select times of the year a three week training program is offered for people who would like to become Bereavement Volunteers for Hospice Quinte.
In order to take the class a candidate must complete a Volunteer Application Form and undergo a screening process and formal interview. Successful candidates will then be able to attend classes. In order to become a Hospice Quinte Bereavement Volunteer, volunteers must successfully assist in one 8-week Grief Toolbox Support Group under the supervision of Hospice Quinte staff.
Hospice Quinte Bereavement Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and not have experienced a significant loss (such as death, divorce, or loss of job or home) within the last year.
