Hospice Quinte Announces Heart & Home Building Campaign Co-Chairs

(L-R) Ross McDougall, Campaign Co-Chair; Jennifer May-Anderson, Hospice Quinte Executive Director; Kim Lander, Hospice Quinte Treasurer; John Williams, Campaign Co-Chair

Hospice Quinte is pleased to announce Ross McDougall, CEO of McDougall Insurance, and John Williams, President of Williams Hotels, as Co-Chairs of the Heart & Home Building Campaign.

For over 10 years, Hospice Quinte has been planning to expand its services and address the need for a community-based hospice within the Quinte region. The need is now urgent, and the time is right. To bring this vision to reality, Hospice Quinte has launched the $9.5M Heart & Home Building Campaign to support the construction of the new Hospice Quinte Care Centre on Old Highway 2, across from Bayside Secondary School.

McDougall and Williams, both former mayors – McDougall of Belleville and Williams of Quinte West, have been involved in several different charitable and community-centric initiatives throughout our region, and have shown great support for the new Hospice Quinte Care Centre.

“Hospice Quinte is incredibly lucky to have two well respected, community-minded individuals, like Ross and John, to be co-chairs of the Heart & Home Building Campaign,” says Jennifer May-Anderson, Executive Director of Hospice Quinte. “The success of our campaign is going to require rallying the support of each municipality and the individuals living within the Quinte region. Ross and John are each in tune with the heartbeat of the community they previously served as mayor and are equally passionate about our vision for a Hospice Quinte Care Centre in our community,” she adds.

The Heart & Home Building Campaign has already garnered encouraging early support, including the generous donation of property and $1M by the City of Quinte West, a $1M donation from the City of Belleville, as well as $1.2M in funding from the Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care. This has provided a solid foundation from which to launch the campaign and a true testament to the importance of this much needed facility in our community – the only one in our region with the level of services it will provide.

Hospice Quinte assists terminally ill individuals and their caregivers by offering them support and companionship. Visiting hospice services are offered in the person’s own home, long term care homes, retirement homes and both Belleville General and Trenton Memorial Hospitals. This care is provided by trained, experienced, and compassionate volunteers. Bereavement support groups are also offered.  There are no fees for services to patients and their families. Hospice Quinte is a registered, non-profit charity whose volunteers are the heart of the organization.

The Hospice Quinte service area includes Quinte West, Belleville, Deseronto, Tyendinaga Township and the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
