Over $25K Harvesting for Hospice Quinte

Event Chair Shelby MacPherson and team present cheque for $25,706 to Hospice Quinte

Last weekend, the Harvesting Hope for Hospice Quinte Charity Car Rally and Artisan Market, presented by Tara Lyons Royal Lepage Proliance, raised over $25,700 in support of local hospice palliative care services. More than 200 people turned out for the event that was held Saturday, September 24th at Grills Orchards with all proceeds going to Hospice Quinte’s ‘The Comfort of Home’ annual fundraising campaign.

“Increasing awareness and raising necessary funds to help ensure continuation of the good works of Hospice Quinte, including the new Stan Klemencic Care Centre, was our goal and I’m delighted by the success we’ve achieved,” says Event Chair, Shelby MacPherson, of County Bus Service. “The caring commitment and extraordinary support we received from donors, sponsors, volunteers and participants was beyond expectation and goes to show that small seeds of gratitude truly do produce a harvest of hope.”

This year, Hospice Quinte’s ‘The Comfort of Home’ campaign is working to raise $500K to meet the hospice palliative care and bereavement support needs of our community. A total of 67 volunteers rolled up their sleeves to lend a hand at last Saturday’s event.

“We are so appreciative of Shelby, and her Harvesting Hope for Hospice Quinte team, for spearheading this initiative on our behalf,” says Jennifer May-Anderson, Hospice Quinte’s Executive Director. “We are delighted by the success of the event and want to share our appreciation to everyone who contributed to the effort – thank you so much for helping to foster world-class hospice palliative care here in Quinte!”
