Children’s Grief Support Group

Support for Children who have recently lost a loved one

About the Hospice Quinte Children’s Grief Support Group

The children’s grief support group is an ongoing Bi-monthly program for children ages 6-11 who have experienced the expected death of a loved one in the past 3 years.

This program provides a safe and supportive space for young people to express their grief through activity-based programming, connect with peers who have experienced similar loss, and develop healthy coping strategies.

With generous support from Alva Foundation

The Children’s Grief Support Group is not appropriate for children who have lost someone in a traumatic way (or perceived to be a traumatic death) such as suicide, overdose, or tragic accident. Please see Helpful Links for specific bereavement resources.

The Children’s Grief Support Group is Not Grief Counselling or Therapy

It’s important to note that the Children’s Grief Support Group is not a substitute for therapy or professional counseling. While it provides valuable support and resources, it does not replace the expertise and personalized care offered by trained therapists. If a child requires therapeutic intervention, we encourage you to seek assistance from licensed mental health professionals. The Children’s Grief Support Group may complement, but does not replace, therapy or counseling services.
