Tyendinaga Township Council proudly announced their support for Hospice Quinte’s Heart & Home Building Campaign, by pledging a $75,000 donation, over a three-year period, to the construction of the new Hospice Quinte Care Centre.
At the beginning of last night’s council meeting, Reeve Rick Phillips shared the exciting news with those in attendance, including members of Hospice Quinte’s staff and board, and campaign Co-Chairs, Ross McDougall and John Williams. “We’re very proud to present this donation to Hospice Quinte,” said Reeve Phillips. “This project is one that’s important to the community, and it’s something that I know we all really believe in.”
The Hospice Quinte Care Centre will be a place where individuals can spend their final days with family and friends, in a safe, comfortable, quiet and welcoming environment that feels as close to home as possible. Professional care will be provided to individuals 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and at no cost to the family or individual.
Heart & Home Building Campaign Co-Chair, John Williams graciously thanked council for their support. “It’s really important to us that you showed your support to our Campaign today”, said Williams. “We’ve just launched the part of our Campaign where we’re going out into the community and knocking on doors. I think having your early support really says a lot to the community about the importance of this project.”
Fellow Co-Chair, Ross McDougall, adds, “We can’t thank you enough for announcing your support of the project today. This really is a big deal for us, to be able to say that another community served by Hospice Quinte is onboard. It’s really going to help us in rallying other members of the community together.”

Hospice Quinte assists terminally ill individuals and their caregivers by offering them support and companionship. Visiting hospice services are offered in the person’s own home, long term care homes, retirement homes and both Belleville General and Trenton Memorial Hospitals. This care is provided by trained, experienced, and compassionate volunteers. Bereavement support groups are also offered. There are no fees for services to patients and their families. Hospice Quinte is a registered, non-profit charity whose volunteers are the heart of the organization.
The Hospice Quinte service area includes Quinte West, Belleville, Deseronto, Tyendinaga Township and the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
