Hospice Quinte’s Stan Klemencic Care Centre is the home of all of our programs and services.  It is home to 6 residents requiring 24/7 clinical care. You will work collaboratively with the Hospice Residence Manager and clinical team.

Job Summary

The primary activity for the Continuing Care Assistant will be to provide support to residents at the Stan Klemencic Centre and clients of Hospice Quinte. The Continuing Care Assistant may help with recreational therapy programs, client and/or family education, and light housekeeping duties including meal preparation and laundry. When needed the Continuing Care Assistant may assist with personal care for residents as well as resident safety and reporting.

Working Conditions

· 30 hours per week starting May 6, 2024, and ending August 24, 2024

· This position is funded by Canada Summer Jobs and the position requires an individual who is between the ages of 15 and 30 and who is returning to post-secondary school in September

· The position pays $19.00/hour.

· The Stan Klemencic Care Centre (fully accessible) is located at 1244 Old Highway 2, Belleville and will require transportation to and from work (across from Bayside Secondary School)

· Work with the clinical care team and the community hospice team.

· Periods of standing or sitting and ability to lift up to 20 pounds.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

· Preference given to currently enrolled students in a post-secondary program in the areas of nursing, recreation, recreational therapy, or other areas of study including allied health professionals.

· Experience working in a clinical environment is an asset

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

· Experience with a clinical care setting is an asset

· Ability to understand and learn new technology programs

· Ability to complete virtual training

· Self-motivated with the ability to work as part of a team

· Have undergone a successful police record check

Responsibilities and Duties

· Complete online training for health and safety

· Complete relevant statutory and compliance training

· Work with the Community Hospice Manager and Clinical Care Manager to develop a recreational therapy program for residents and clients at Hospice Quinte

· Provide support to the clinical care team with general housekeeping duties and personal care when required

· Other administrative duties as required for program support

· Uses effective communication and interpersonal skills

· Respectfully work with Hospice Quinte staff, volunteers, and visitors

· Assumes other related duties as assigned

Organizational Responsibilities

· Participate and contribute to encourage and support activities which promote effective team functioning throughout Hospice Quinte

· Participate in assigned Hospice Quinte activities, events, and committees

· Demonstrate appropriate boundaries with staff, volunteers, clients, and members of the community

· Attend meetings, conferences, and training as required

· Maintain professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information

· Accept other duties as required
